Apple plans to launch Apple Pay in China by February

Apple Inc plans to launch its mobile payment system Apple Pay in China by early February, the Wall Street Journal reported. The iPhone maker has struck deals recently with China's big four state-run banks, the newspaper reported late Monday, citing people familiar with the discussions. When launched, Apple Pay will mainly compete with Alipay, the online payment platform run by Alibaba Holding Group Ltd affiliate Ant Financial, and UnionPay Co, a state-controlled consortium that has a monopoly on all yuan payment cards issued and used in the country. Apple's plans could still face regulatory hurdles in China, where banking and e-commerce are overseen by a number of government agencies, WSJ said. Launched in the United States in October last year, Apple is bringing its payment se...

AllChinaTech exposes Alibaba’s fake $14B Single’s Day sales success

Alibaba performed insanely well during its Singles Day shopping festival on November 11th bringing in RMB 92.1 billion (USD 14 billion) in sales revenue. Despite this, Alibaba’s stock price dropped from 81.43 on November 10th to 75.85 on November 15th.   Why didn’t remarkable sales performance equate with a boost in stock price? AllChinaTech offers some quick answers. I. Stock price reflects expectations for a company, not necessarily past performance. The past few years have seen Alibaba experience strong growth, but the company is in need of something exciting to prove it can continue the momentum. It was reported last Friday, leading hedge fund manager, James Chanos, suggested shorting Alibaba stock and pitching long on competitor JD.com at a Morgan Stanley conference. Al...

How to do a perfect marketing? Learn from OLA!!

Tow days before when OLA was trending, I thought it might be a marketing gimmick …. Indeed it was!! Great job done by the Marketing team at OLA to seize this opportunity to showcase OlaBoat service as a "Goodwill" gesture and capture top of mind recall within their Customer Base. That’s what I would call a Masters stroke by a relatively new player in the Market flooded with many big brothers (MNC’s) who are often advised by bigger advertising Gurus. I remember the day last year almost same time when Ola’s biggest rival “UBER” was much criticized for employing “surge pricing” during the hostage crisis in Sydney last year. It was an unfortunate event which “UBER” tried to monetize unlike “OLA” who capitalized the opportunity for “Brand Building”.   Continuous rain for...

"Every business in the world is going to run on cloud eventually," Pichai said on a post-earnings call in October. Amazon's cloud business is now its fastest-growing business, while Microsoft is banking on cloud computing to make up for slowing sales of personal computers. Decoding – Snapdeal revenues have increased 5 times from last year

It seems a comment from Kunal Bahl (CEO, Co-founder of Snapdeal) is true that Snapdeal will become profitable in three years. As per the latest data from a Blog, Snapdeal revenues have increased 5 times. The Blog also revealed that the loss per rupee of revenue earned has also decreased drastically comparison to last year.   Loss per rupee chart: So Snapdeal revenues have been growing multifold every year. Every Valuation round is a multiple of the last one. But what about its losses? The negative point is that revenue for FY 2012-13 was INR 340 million which is a very small scale to be of any use for benchmarking. And the loss at even a scale of INR 1,680 million is twice the revenue.

Amazon may export delivery lessons from India to cut costs abroad

E-commerce giant Amazon.com is taking lessons learnt from its daily battles with India's choked roads and cramped cities to some of its largest developed markets, exporting a model of cheaper deliveries and reduced warehousing costs. Online shopping is booming in India, where millions of consumers are newly able to access the Internet thanks to cheap smartphones. For Amazon, it is already the largest contributor of new customers outside the United States. But, like local rivals Flipkart and Snapdeal, Amazon has struggled with deliveries in cities where snarl-ups are frequent and road signs unreliable. In response, firms have set up logistics networks and use motorbikes instead of trucks. Flipkart, for one, has tapped Mumbai's dabbawalas, a more than a century-old lunch box distrib...
