UK Says WhatsApp Lets Paedophiles and Gangsters Operate Beyond the Law

Britain said WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption communication services allowed paedophiles and organised crime groups to operate beyond the reach of the law and called on the messaging service to move faster to help governments catch offenders. After four militant attacks in Britain that killed 36 people this year, senior ministers have stepped up demands over the past six months to make internet companies do more to suppress extremist content and allow access to encrypted communications. The government says full-scale encryption has complicated the job of law enforcement both in thwarting extremist attacks and in investigating more commonplace crimes. Internet companies say they want to help governments remove extremist or criminal material but also have to balance the demands of s...

UK Doctors Using WhatsApp, Snapchat to Share Patient’s Data

Doctors in the UK are increasingly using Facebook, WhatsApp and Snapchat to discuss information about their patients, despite a ban on the use of internet- based messaging apps, experts say. Due to the lack of digital sharing systems, UKs National Health Service (NHS) doctor use groups on Facebook and Whatsapp to share details about patients, according to Alisdair Macnair, an NHS doctor based at Cambridge. Use of internet-based messaging apps to send patient information is banned by the NHS. "I have also seen chat on Facebook groups that sails pretty close to the wind in terms of discussing medical information," Macnair told the BBC. "I've definitely seen stuff which is one step away from being patient identifying," Macnair said. "I am empathetic with doctors because there is a nee...

The video calling feature also pitched WhatsApp against popular video calling apps like Microsoft Skype, Apples FaceTime and Google Duo. Since then, it has seen a steady growth in usage. One of the driving factors has been falling data prices and free promotional data by new comer, Reliance Jio. As per data shared by WhatsApp, India is the top country for video calling minutes with over 50 million video calling minutes per day. Globally, users make over 55 million video calls per day,...
