Facebook launches real-time sports platform

Facebook Inc is tackling the sports arena with a new platform called Facebook Sports Stadium, which the social media site said will provide real-time updates on games, popular posts from fans, statistics and commentary from experts. "With 650 million sports fans, Facebook is the world's largest stadium," it wrote in a post on Wednesday announcing the feature. Facebook, which said it had an average 1.01 billion active daily users as of September, reports its fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday, Jan. 27. The new service appears to be an effort to encroach on Twitter's territory. The micro-blogging site has long been a popular destination for so-called "live-tweeting" games. MichaelAaron Flicker, president of XenoPsi, a New York City-based marketing firm, said the new product is ...

Twitter Sued By U.S. Widow for Helping Islamic State

(Reuters)- Twitter is being sued by the widow of an American killed in Jordan, who accuses the social media company of giving a voice to Islamic State, adding to the pressure to crack down on online propaganda linked to terrorism. Tamara Fields, a Florida woman whose husband Lloyd died in the Nov. 9 attack on the police training center in Amman, said Twitter knowingly let the militant Islamist group use its network to spread propaganda, raise money and attract recruits. Lawyers specializing in terrorism said Fields faces an uphill battle though the case could lead to more calls for social media companies such as Twitter and Facebook Inc to take down posts associated with terrorist groups. In her complaint filed on Wednesday, Fields said San Francisco-based Twitter had until recently g...

How Dorsey Manages Being CEO Of Both Twitter And Square companies

The busy CEO reveals his secret to managing a busy life. Jack Dorsey, the CEOs of both Twitter and payments technology company Square, has a secret to keep from being overwhelmed. “I look to build a lot of consistent routine,” he said during a question and answer session Tuesday on the online forum Product Hunt. “Same thing every day. Allows a steady state that enables me to be more effective when I do have to react to something out of band.” Many have questioned whether Dorsey can successfully hold two jobs simultaneously at public companies. It is a work load that few others have tried. Of course, Steve Jobs successfully ran both Pixar and Apple for years. But after that, it’s a short list of people who have been able to pull off holding dual roles.  Dorsey said in response t...

The company's new app will compete with Twitter Inc's recently launched service called Moments, which aims to provide a better way of curating and aggregating content for users and help them follow live events. Facebook was not immediately available to comment. Shares of the company, which is set to report quarterly earnings after ...

Dorsey’s Twitter stock gift well-timed to stem brain drain

Twitter Chief Executive Jack Dorsey's novel move to give a third of his company stock to an employee equity pool is a smart gesture to restore confidence in a company that lost its way, according to recruiting and compensation experts. Beyond its generosity, the gift is a strategic effort to retain and attract key talent at the social media company, roiled by months of leadership uncertainty and questions over its long-term growth. "It's a deliberate and wise and somewhat necessary move to shore up the talent you want to keep," said recruiter Jason Hanold, who places executives and top managers in the technology industry. Twitter in talks to acquire flipboard

Twitter has been talking with article sharing platform Flipboard over a possible acquisition, valuing the company at more than $1bn. Tech blog Re/Code, citing sources with the knowledge of the situation, reported Twitter has been engaged in an ongoing series of talks since the beginning of 2015 to acquire Flipboard in an all-stock deal. The talks have been spearheaded by Twitter CFO Anthony Noto, according to the report.   Nevertheless, the talks between the parties, who already have a number of tie-ups between them, seem to be currently stalled, despite a flurry of activity in recent times, the sources said. Both Twitter and Flipboard declined to comment on the report. The attempt comes as the social network looks to grow its audience and improve on its products. ...

Buffer App – A Startup that developed formulas for sharing Equity and Salary

It is quite common for the founders to split equity in their company early on in the process and an even-split is the common scenario seen in most of them. Every startup in the world faces "ups and downs" due to equity sharing issues. One thing which creates a big difference between good Startups and ordinary Startups in this matter is transparency. Good startups will always have better sharing equity structure and individual breakdown process.
