Announced last month in an education targeted event at Chicago, Apple’s new 2018 9.7 inch iPad is now available for sale in India at a price of Rs. 28,000 (32GB/WiFi version).
The new 2018, 9.7 inch iPad is the successor to previously released model with a faster processor and a support for Apple Pencil, a pricey stylus that lets users draw on the screen with a flawless accuracy.
- Storage options on the device include 32 GB or 128 GB and are available in three colors namely silver, gold and grey.
- The 9.7-inch Retina display comprises a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 for a total of 256 pixels per inch (PPI).
- There is a Touch ID Sensor present in the Home Button present just below the home button.
- A 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera is handy for FaceTime calls, while the rear-facing 8-megapixel camera captures 1080p video.
Pencil: The Highlight
Apple’s Pencil has been the most exciting feature since the last few years. It’s remarkable capability to draw on the screen with pressure sensitive reception results in excellent digital sketching.
The Pencil also recharges fast via Lightning. However, it is expensive and approximately twice the cost of iPad.It can be purchased separately for Rs. 7600 while the Smart Covers for iPad will be available for Rs. 3,400. These are available in Midnight Blue, White, Red, Pink Sand color variants.

Talking of the difference, there is not much to count from 2017 iPads model. The new iPad has more or less the same build and design but improves significantly over internal configuration.
Battery, Processor, and Memory
Apple’s new 9.7-inch iPad is powered by A10 fourth generation chip paired with 64-bit desktop class architecture. Moreover, and comes with sensors such as gyroscope and accelerometer that enable AR experiences. Coming to the battery, Apple has claimed to offer 10 hours of battery life on WiFi while 9 hours of standby for browsing the web on cellular.
The device will support Apple SIM feature thus making it easier to connect to wireless data plans from the device.
