India’s popular Delhi-based telecom company Bharti Airtel has publicized that its Android app called Airtel TV has crossed the milestone of 50 million (5 crores) downloads on the Google Play Store. To acknowledge this success, the company has announced that it will be offering a free subscription to the Airtel mobile customers till 31 December 2018.
Earlier, Airtel provided free subscription on Airtel TV app to its customers only till June, but now the time period has been extended till the end of this year. The free subscription will be offered to each and every Airtel prepaid and postpaid user.
“We are thrilled at achieving this milestone and being able to scale up the app so rapidly. This is a strong endorsement from our users and a result of our unrelenting focus on delivering a world-class in-app experience. We will continue to expand our content partnerships and bring more exciting innovations to our users,” expressed Sameer Batra, CEO of Content and apps in Airtel.
Airtel TV app had recently been given a major refresh where users can watch over 375 live TV channels (earlier 300), more than 10,000 (earlier 6,000) Hollywood and Bollywood movies as well as TV shows. Airtel has an association with content partners like HOOQ, Eros Now, Sony Liv, Dailymotion, and YouTube for movie access on the Airtel TV app. Airtel TV also offered free access to IPL 2018 live matches and highlights, whereas, on the other hand, its competitor Hotstar charged a premium membership fee.
The content on the app is available in 15 different languages which is a point of attraction for people situated in different parts of the country. The languages include English, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Assamese, Odia, French, and Urdu.
The latest offer as announced by the company is sure to attract a lot more people to make use of the Airtel TV app which in turn may help the company to grow and expand even more in the coming years.
