Matrix Cellular Launches App, Enters Into E-commerce Space

International mobile sim seller Matrix Cellular today launched an app for international travellers to help them book movie tickets, restaurants and taxi, among other things. Matrix Travel Companion App is now available for free on Android and Apple iOS platform, Bollywood actress and Matrix Cellular Independent Director Gul Panag said. She said the app has been incubated by Matrix Cellular but its business will operate independently from sim service business of Matrix. State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today said it will look into allegations of irregularity in award of network equipment tender to US tech giant Cisco in 2014. Reports said BSNL tender norms for procuring IP-MPLS equipment for the Network for Spectrum (NFS) project were allegedly tweaked to so that the Rs 2,000 crore contract went to US giant. "Prima facie there is no substance to the allegations, but since the reports have come we will look into the matter once again. In the past also, these things have come up before I joined, and a proper reply on the subject has been given," BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava told. 150 Rs War- Idea And Airtel Launched New Plans To Counter Reliance Jio and BSNL

Incumbent telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular today made an attempt to match free 4G service of Reliance Jio by launching two identical schemes offering free calls and limited mobile internet use priced at around Rs 150 and Rs 350 with 28 days validity. To match Jio unlimited calling plan, Airtel and Idea today announced scheme priced at Rs 345 and Rs 348 respectively that will allow their customers to make unlimited calls to any network in the country. Both the companies will provide 1GB of 4G data to customers with 4G mobile phone and 50 MB for non-4G mobile handset users under the plan. WhatsApp has temporarily suspended giving parent company Facebook information about users in Europe for ad targeting, responding to concerns there over privacy, a source close to the matter has said. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani today announced free voice calling, zero roaming charges and cheaper data tariffs for Jio customers. The company also announced "super-affordable" handsets under the LYF brand starting Rs 2999. Shares of Idea Cellular and Bharti Airtel plunged up to 9 per cent today after RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced free voice calling and cheaper data tariffs for Jio customers.
