Gurugram-based online retail coupon platform for brick and mortar lifestyle and fashion stores has recently raised a pre-series A funding of Rs 1.5 crore (around $233K) led by former corporate finance head of PricewaterhouseCoopers Pvt Ltd, Munesh Khanna. The development will be used to expand its geographical presence and product development, it said in a media statement. “Shopholix has grown by leveraging digital tools and technologies for offline retailers. Moreover, by tapping into a largely unexplored segment like offline retail with its focused digital marketing solutions, the startup is well on its way to becoming a market leader in the segment,” Khanna said in the press note. IRCTC Giving 50 Percent Cash Back on Food, To Boost e-Catering

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a new scheme that provides 50 percent cash back offer on pre-paid orders having a minimum value of Rs 300, a move set to further boost its e-catering facility. The facility has become available on IRCTCs e-catering website since May 13, said IRCTC CMD AK Manocha. The cash back offer is valid only for meals booked through IRCTC and having a value of more than Rs 300 in a single order. Manocha said such a move would give a major fillip to e-catering operations of IRCTC. "IRCTCs e-catering facility, which has broad-based the culinary choices in a significant manner, is now turning out to be a big hit with rail passengers. In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission last Friday, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. revealed that it had acquired 32.972 million shares of class A common stock (about 5.6% of shares outstanding) in Groupon Inc. . After the news published, Groupon’s stock was up more than 20%, touched $20 per share. One week ago, the shares hit an all-time low of $2.15. Alibaba likely filed with the SEC because its stake rose above 5% of Groupon’s outstanding shares. There is no information on how much Alibaba paid for the shares. Groupon had $917.2 million in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2015. That compares to consensus estimates that called for a breakeven in earnings on revenue of $841 million.
