India, Russia to Set Up $1 Billion Business Fund

India and Russia are setting up a USD 1 billion fund to promote mutual investments in infrastructure and technology projects, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said. Both the countries would contribute USD 500 million to the fund, Sitharaman said while addressing India-Russia Business Forum at the ongoing International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) here yesterday. While the Russian funds would be channeled through Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Indian contribution will be accrued from National Investment and Infrastructure Fund. Digital to Overtake Traditional Mediums By 2021-22: EY

Digital mediums are likely to surpass traditional ones by 2021-22, when smart phone and broadband penetration increases in the country, according to EY India. "When does digital overtake physical? When smart phone penetration becomes 50 per cent of the population, which in our case will happen in 2019-2020. Second factor is when broadband is equal to one-third of the smart phone penetration, which in our case will happen only by 2021-22, according to our estimate. Cash-strapped Chinese technology conglomerate LeEco is in talks on securing a 10 billion yuan (USD1.4 billion) deal with an unnamed strategic investor, its listed unit said. Leshi Internet Information and Technology said in a filing to the stock exchange late Wednesday that its parent company had signed a framework agreement with the investor and the two sides were still discussing the final details.
