Reliance Jio Net Profit Surges 62.5%

India's leading telecom operator Reliance Jio posted a 62.5 percent jump in its standalone net profit at Rs 1,350 crore for the October-December quarter of FY 2019-20. The telecom arm of Reliance Industries, Jio had posted a net profit of Rs 831 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago. The company recorded an increase of 28.3 per cent in its operating revenue at Rs 13,968 crore as compared to Rs 10,884 crore in the year-ago period. Montreal, Jan 12, 2020: Canada Department of Justice said a Huawei executive arrested in Vancouver could be extradited to the United States, because her offense is a crime in both countries, according to documents released Friday. Huawei chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou, who was originally detained on a US warrant in late 2018, faces an extradition hearing in Vancouver that begins on January 20. The United States accuses Meng of lying to banks about violating Iran sanctions. New Delhi- Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio, known for its aggressive data and voice offerings, filed a total 54 global patents during 2016-17. RIL, in its latest annual report, said its telecom venture has been a catalyst in Indias digital ecosystem and that data consumption on Jio network is "higher than the total mobile data consumption in the US, and twice that in China". India to Have 1.4 Billion Mobile Subscribers by 2022

The overall mobile subscriber base in the country is likely to grow to 1.4 billion by 2022 and nearly one-third of them will be 4G users, says a report by Ericsson Mobility. India led the mobile subscribers growth globally with highest net addition of over 43 million customers in January- March 2017, it said. China followed India with net addition of over 24 million mobile subscribers during the three-month period. Indias total mobile subscriber base is expected to grow to over 1.4 billion in the next five years of which 520 million will be 4G subscribers, the report said. Reliance Jio, India's newest telecom operator, is closing in on 50 million paid users, days before its free voice, free-data offer ends. Out of 100 million-plus free subscribers, nearly 50 million have signed up for its 'Prime' membership by paying a one-time charge of Rs 99 and buying data packs. A company official said that Jio has already achieved more than 50 per cent of the target set for Jio Prime membership.
