These 5 Startups Will Pitch Live at Startup India Event on Jan 16th

With over $5 billion worth investment in 2015 and 3 to 4 startups emerging every day, India has the third largest number of startups in the world. On January 16th, the Prime Minister will formally launch the StartUp India, StandUp India initiative and unveil the government’s actions plans to support early stage startups. StartUp India, Stand Up India celebrates the entrepreneurship spirit of country’s youth and those that are using technology to change the way we solve problems in India across industries, from medicine and sports to education and the environment.

On January 16th, 5 startups will pitch their own solutions live to a panel of esteemed judges, who will select and announce the winner. Prior to this, people around the world and across India can also play a role and vote for their favorite, and the top three startups will receive an invitation to Google’s Launchpad Week 5 Day mentorship event.

1) Sbalabs Pvt. Ltd. – Jackboy Sense & Kalink

Sbalabs Cleaning the environment by converting air pollution to printing ink. Soot (Black Carbon) is a mass of impure carbon particles resulting from the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons i.e. air pollution. It is produced by vehicles and industries alike. Breathing in soot is linked to a wide range of serious health effects, including premature death, heart attacks, and strokes, bronchitis and aggravated asthma among children.

We’ve been on the mission of repurposing pollution’s carbon capture to industrial grade raw material for printing industry (inks, pigments, paints etc.)

 

2) Guru-G

Founded in May 2013, Guru-G converts existing content into adaptive teaching packs. These packs provide in-class guidance to teachers on different ways in which they can teach a topic. The guidance adapts to the teacher’s past behaviour, student moods & the practices that have resulted in best learning outcomes for their students. This makes it the easiest, least intrusive and most teacher-friendly way of ensuring that student performance improves.

3) SlamdunQ

Founded in August 2014, SlamdunQ focuses primarily on using wearable technology to unleash sporting potential. Using Smartwatches and SmartBands available in the market, they develop applications for these wearables to improve their clients’ sporting potential. They are passionate about sports and endeavor to make applications that help budding sports players improve their game through carefully designed matrices and parameters. Their team delves deep into each sport, spending time understanding and decoding it to devise solutions that effectively better your game.

 

 

4)Reap Benefit

Founded in July 2013, Reap Benefit is a social enterprise which aims to solve local environment & civic problems ( sanitation, waste, air quality, energy) by engaging the youth. They aim to engage the youth, through technology, to solve local environment & civic problems, through:

1. Crowd sourced data of local issues
2. Existing do it yourself solutions
3. Community collaboration
They’ve worked with more than 15,000 students on the ground for the last 3 years, saved more than 200 tonnes of waste, 2 million litres of water, 100,000 units of power , developed low cost solutions like DIY: water less urinals, weather stations, organic enzyme to convert food waste into compost, bins etc.

 

5) Cardiac Design Labs

MIRCaM stands for Mobile Intelligent Remote Cardiac Monitor. MIRCaM comprehensive suite comprises of a Bodyworn unit, Patient’s Bedside Unit, MIRCaM Doctor’s Terminal and MIRCaM Doctor’s Mobile App.

It provides real-time analysis and generate instant alarms on episode detection, thus enhancing patient care and safety. It gives new possibilities for monitoring of vital parameters with wearable biomedical sensors, and will give the patient the freedom to be mobile and still be under continuous monitoring and thereby offer better quality of patient care.
