Apple's iPad Pro to go on sale Wednesday

Apple Inc  said its iPad Pro will be available to order online on Wednesday and arrive ga naar at stores later this week. The 12.9 inch-screen tablet, which starts at $799 but costs more than $1,000 if buyers also want a keyboard and an optional stylus, will be available in more than 40 countries, including the United States, the UK, China and Japan. Sales of iPads have been falling for several quarters as big-screen iPhones appeal to more consumers. Apple sold 54.86 million iPads in the year ended Sept. 26 – a drop of 19 percent from a year earlier. YouTube announced two new features Thursday for its Android app that expand the video site’s use of virtual reality, giving the new technology its biggest platform yet. The app now supports VR video – a format that gives viewers what the company says are more realistic 360-degree perspectives of films. Facebook now makes 78 percent of its ad revenue on mobile

It wasn’t that many years ago that Facebook had its aha moment — when it realized that mobile was the way forward for advertising. Flash forward to today, and mobile advertising makes up 78 percent of the social network’s total advertising revenue. Advertising makes up almost all of Facebook’s income. The mobile advertising revenue represents a 73 percent uptick from last year’s third quarter. However, revenue from ads served on personal computers was down 7 percent from last year. Facebook Inc is preparing to launch a new standalone news app called Notify next week, the Financial Times reported, citing people familiar with the plans. The app will feature content from dozens of media partners including Vogue, the Washington Post and CBS, the newspaper said. Facebook had earlier tied up with nine news publishers to launch "Instant Articles", which publishes their content directly to the social network's mobile news feeds. Reliance Communication Acquires Sistemas Indian Telecom Business

Billionaire Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications today said it will take over Russian conglomerate Sistema's Indian mobile telephony venture that operates under the MTS brand. While financial details of the deal were not immediately announced, RCom said Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd (SSTL) will hold a 10 percent equity stake in RCom as a result of the deal. In addition, RCom will assume the liability to pay the government installments for SSTL's spectrum, amounting to Rs 392 crore per annum for the next 10 years. "RCom will acquire approximately 9 million customers and approximately Rs 1,500 crore of annual revenues by virtue of the transaction," the company said in a statement. Hackers broke into nearly 2,000 Vodafone UK customer accounts

LONDON- Vodafone UK said on Saturday hackers had accessed the accounts of 1,827 of its customers this week, the second cyber attack on a British telecoms company this month. The attackers had potentially gained access to the victims' bank sort codes and the last four numbers of their bank accounts, along with their names and mobile telephone numbers, a Vodafone spokesman said. In the wake of an unprecedented surge in e-commerce, shopping malls already under huge pressure due to large vacant spaces are expected to see a sharp decline in the footfalls could be to the extent of 55.58 per cent during the ongoing festive season this year, reveals an ASSOCHAM recent survey.
