PayPal To Employ 600 Techies In AI and ML Domain Soon

The American online payment company Paypal is considering India as a market for increasing growth and therefore, is planning to appoint over 600 techies by the end of this year that is by December, in the machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) sector.

Paypal is one of the largest online payment services till date that supports online money transfers and serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods like cheques and money orders.

“We plan to increase the headcount by 600 in 2018. Some of the job roles that PayPal intends to hire for include application developers- Java, Node JS; back-end developers- data engineers, data experts and product managers,” Guru Bhat, GM Technology & Head of Engineering, PayPal said. “For PayPal, the India centres are key and strategic. This is a great opportunity for us in terms of not just business but also to leverage the great talent that exists here,” Bhat added.

The company has two tech centres that are situated in Chennai and Bengaluru. According to the reports, since 2016, its current employee base has increased twice in number.

Bhat stated that as the company, the whole team is growing extensively over 20% year-on-year revenue. He added that the company will employ fresh as well as lateral hires who will be contributing in the areas stated above.

It is interesting how PayPal is available in more than 200 markets around the world.  The PayPal platform enables consumers and merchants to receive money in more than 100 currencies, withdraw funds in over 56 currencies and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in 25 currencies as stated on the company’s website.

The company is now making more plans to assist its growth and to make it even more efficient in fulfilling the needs of the customers and users of the digital payment services. The company’s growth is sure to get a hype next year after the process of hiring fresh employees takes place.
