Pepperfry Introduces Cash-On-Delivery Services Up To Rs 50,000

Online home and lifestyle store Pepperfry has reportedly launched a fresh feature on its platform that is from now on, the consumers in Mumbai and Delhi NCR will be able to avail the cash on delivery (COD) services ahead of the upcoming festive season.

Furniture delivery is a big space and thus, it is generally not based on COD, but now the company will offer COD payments of up to Rs 50,000 on high-ticket purchases at no additional cost as an introductory offer.

With this move, the Mumbai-based company is looking to make high-value furniture transactions accessible to consumers in line with a target to reach up to 20 million homes by 2020.

“The introduction of the COD option with an upper limit of up to Rs 50,000 offers more flexibility to our customers when purchasing furniture online and will be an ally for customers who are still apprehensive making digital payments. We understand that cash remains the most preferred medium of transaction for Indian consumers especially when it comes to high-ticket purchases. Therefore, we’re certain that it will act as a key differentiator for us in the furniture segment,” Abhimanyu Lal, Chief Product Officer, Pepperfry stated.

The option for COD will be available on most of the articles where the maximum cart value should be Rs 49,999. The company is trying to gain more trust of the comsumers by allowing them to purchase furniture and pay on delivery. The COD feature will be made available to the users on its mobile site and app.

The company at present is focusing to target 1 million customer transactions in the next three months through the new COD service till the end of the festive season. Pepperfry is one of the few e-commerce players to offer such a large ticket size in a COD format, and this particular step is to expand its operations to a larger consumer base.

As of now, the service is being offered only in Mumbai and Delhi NCR but the company has plans to extend it to other cities soon.
