Xiaomi Asks Users For Their Personal Details

The consumer electronics company Xiaomi that at present rules the Indian market has silently updated its privacy policy for the Indian website. The policy was updated on 25 April 2018 and will come into force from 25 May 2018.

The new policy wants the users to provide them with their personal information such as bank details, working place and much more. In case the user does not provide this information, he will not be able to make use of all the Xiaomi services.

The privacy policy on the official website reads, “If you do not agree with these changes and no longer wish to use our services, you may cancel your account.” This clearly states that the users’ account will be canceled if he does not provide his private details. The list of details that the users are bound to share with the company are as follows:

1) Monetary Details – This category includes details regarding bank account number, account holder name, credit card number and much more.

 

2) Social Details – Details of our social life such as work profile, current employer, educational details, professional training details, place of work etc. come under this category.

 

3) Application Details – This means details of your software utilization, for instance, application ID information, application list, SDK version, system update settings, application status record (downloading, installing, updating, deleting), etc.

 

4) Xiaomi may even wish for and use your details concerned with your advertising ID assigned by Third Party Service Providers.

 

On their part, as far as Xiaomi’s commitment to the users is concerned they have mentioned that the users may take away their agreement regarding revealing their personal details by submitting a request to them through email and following the same, the user’s request will be processed within a reasonable time period, and thereafter the users may not be able to use their services.

Xiaomi also mentioned that “personal information will be held for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, or as required or permitted by applicable laws.”
