RealMe1: Another Budget Smartphone You Shouldn’t Fail to Notice!

With an aim to hit aggressive pricing strategy of Xiaomi and Asus, Chinese Smartphone maker Oppo has come forward with an exclusive sub-brand Realme to target young buyers looking to buy a powerful phone within Rs. 10,000 budget.

Dubbed as Realme1, the phone will be exclusively available on Amazon in two variants- 3GB RAM and 32 GB storage priced at Rs. Rs8,990 while the higher 6GB and 128GB priced at Rs. 13,990.

At such a compelling price tag, the phone is surely bringing in a head-on competition for rivals Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (starts at Rs9,999) and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 (starts at Rs10,999).

Here’s All You Should Know About Realme1

Best Looks to Go For

In the budget price category, Oppo Realme1 is by far the best looking phone that comes equipped with diamond cut design and glass finish which looks and feels quite premium. This definitely needs some attention as in rivals you will just find a lusterless metalic body which is something routine and regular. What comes as a surprise is despite its glass back, the phone doesn’t feel slippery thanks to its narrow form factor.

Face Unlock

Though the smartphone does not feature a Fingerprint sensor, it offers Face unlocking which is quite convenient and works quite fast.

Other Specifications

  • The 6-inch screen size comes with a resolution of 2,160×1,080p and aspect ratio of 18:9.

  • There is powerful MediaTek’s Helio P60 octa-core processor with up to 6GB RAM which by far is making it a must buy.

  • A limitation of the phone is its 3410 mAH battery which could give a full day standby at most. In terms of comparison, Redmi Note 5 has a 4,000 mAh battery which comfortably lasts over a day and a half, while the ZenFone Max Pro M1 has a 5,000mAh battery which gives up to 2 days of backup.

  • The phone runs on a custom UI Oppo with Android 8.1 and comprises some unique features such as Game Acceleration mode that blocks calls automatically when a user is playing a game on the phone.

  • Coming to Camera performance, the phone does a humble job offering 13-megapixel at back and  8-megapixel front camera with 2x optical zoom.

Summing Up

Oppo’s Realme outshines rivals in aspects such as looks, design and light form factor. The performance is also at par with competitors but definitely has a scope for improvements. However, if one wants to go for a bigger battery and super camera performance they can consider going for Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Redmi Note 5 Pro.
