Global leading search giant Google launched its virtual personal assistant in the Hindi language. The assistant will be available on Android 6.0+ version & above.
Google Assistant was launched as the successor of Google Now and Voice Search back in 2016. The company is also planning to make this language assistant available from 19 to 30 languages till 2019.
Purvi Shah, Technical Program Manager, Google Assistant said in a press statement, “The Google Assistant is truly an Indian, it’s your helpful dost that speaks our language and understands the things you care about, from finding biryani recipes, to pulling up the latest cricket score or finding directions to the nearest ATM. In order to make it even more useful to Indians over time, developers and businesses can now build Actions for the Hindi Assistant through the developer platform Actions on Google. Once an action is built, you can just say “Ok Google, talk to” and access the service or content straight through your Google Assistant,”.
Now people in India can give voice commands like the day, weather forecast, route & set up an alarm etc. in Hindi to Google Assistant to get things done. The user will have to update the Google Search app to the latest version and select the Hindi language to use this service.
let’s take an example, the user can ask questions in Hindi like, ‘Pixr8 media kya hai?’ or ‘hamare desh ka pradhanmantri kaun hai?’ and ‘sabse acha khana kis sahar ka hai?’. Even Google Assistant will now also understand Hindi commands like ‘Kal subah mujhe saat baje jagaao’, ‘Selfie kheencho’, ‘Daddy ko SMS bhejo” etc.
Google Assistant in Hindi is also available on iPhone (iOS 9.1 and above) as well as Android Oreo (Go edition) devices.
