Indian Government Will Launch Online Platform To File Sexual Harassment Case

An e-platform that will enable women employees of the central government to file sexual harassment complaints online is likely to be launched this month. "We have worked vigorously in the last two-three years in this area. We are going to launch an online platform where women can file sexual harassment-related complaints," Women and Child Development (WCD) Minister Maneka Gandhi told reporters on the sidelines of a workshop here today. "We have just been waiting for the NIC (National Information Centre) to establish it. TVF Founder Arunabh Kumar Arrested, Released on Bail

In the latest development, Arunabh Kumar, CEO and founder of TVF online channel has been arrested and then re leased on bail on the same day after paying a bond of Rs 10,000. Arunabh was earlier booked for molestation based on a complaint by former office employee in Mumbai, almost two weeks after a blog detailing the harassment first surfaced on the internet. After getting anticipatory bail, Arunabh issued a press statement to the police in which he alleged that the harassment claims were a conspiracy against him. "I have strong feeling that someone is trying to hamper my business by doing all of this," Kumar said. The creative director of TVF, Nidhi Bisht, sent out a letter to the 200 employees of the organisation condemning all the allegations made against Arunabh Kumar.

The Mumbai police today booked web entertainment firm 'The Viral Fever's' founder Arunabh Kumar for allegedly causing sexual harassment to unknown women. The suburban Andheri police registered a case against Kumar under sections 354 A (causing sexual harassment) and 509 (insult the modesty of a woman by indecent words, gesture or acts) of Indian Penal Code, said DCP Ashwini Sanap, police spokesperson. A lawyer today filed an application with MIDC police station in suburban Andheri, demanding registration of FIR for sexual harassment against Arunabh Kumar, founder of web entertainment firm The Viral Fever(TVF).
