This year, eight Indian women are featuring in Forbes ‘World’s Billionaires’ list which includes a total of 256 women billionaires, an unprecedented record. The cumulative net worth of the women billionaires featuring in the list soared above $1 trillion, a 20% progress from last year. While most of the women in the standings inherited their wealth, 72 of them are self-made tycoons, another record. Woman Entrepreneur Writes to PM Modi Against Stayzilla Fraud

The woman proprietor of Chennai-based advertising Jigsaw Solutions, which was allegedly defrauded of Rs 1.69 crore by Stayzilla, today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government to address issues of funding and transparent business models at the earliest. Radha Shekhar, in a letter to Modi, said this was needed to avoid any suffering women entrepreneurs like her face at the hands of a few 'unscrupulous businessmen' posing as startups. Jigsaw had alleged Stayzilla had defrauded it of about Rs 1.68 crore for services it rendered since last year. Indian Government Launch Exclusive Scheme For Women Entrepreneurs

The Indian Government would shortly launch an exclusive scheme for women entrepreneurs, a senior official in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) said today. "It will be an exclusive scheme for women entrepreneurs. We have not yet finalised the contours (of the scheme). Hopefully, we will launch it before the end of the financial year," B H Anil Kumar, a Joint Secretary in the Ministry, told reporters here. Earlier, he launched myloanassocham.com, a portal, industry body ASSOCHAM said, that provides MSMEs online access to funds at an affordable rate from a mix of banks and financial institutions.
