Travel Co. Yatra’s Losses Fall, Revenue Up By 36%

India’s second largest online travel company, Yatra has reported improvements in revenue in its fourth-quarter. With both its businesses air ticketing and hotels and packages, the company is witnessing a steady and considerable growth as of 31st March 2018. The travel company has reportedly posted a loss of Rs 38.09 crore in the recent quarter, as compared with Rs 83.02 crore in the previous quarter. The revenue of the company has risen by over 36% amounting to Rs 328.57 crore compared to the fourth quarter of last fiscal. Another U Turn, 2500 Rs Per Ticket is not The Fixed Price Under UDAN Scheme

Airfares as well as the government subsidy for airlines under the regional air connectivity scheme will be revised every three months depending on inflationary trends. The scheme UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) provides for cap on air ticket prices and viability gap funding (VGF) for the participating carriers. The Civil Aviation Ministry has said caps on air ticket prices and VGF under the scheme would be revised on a quarterly basis. While airfares would be linked to inflation, VGF would be decided after taking into consideration inflation, cost of aviation turbine fuel and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Big Economy Boost- Indian PM Flags Off First Flight Under UDAN Scheme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the maiden Shimla-New Delhi flight under a government scheme called UDAN or "Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik" to boost regional air connectivity. The flight is being operated by Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India. The airline has deployed its 42-seater ATR plane on this sector. The prime minister also simultaneously flagged off regional connectivity scheme (RCS) flights on the Kadapa, Hyderabad and Nanded-Hyderabad sectors through video- conferencing.     With the RCS scheme, the government aims at connecting 45 unserved and under-served airports and make flying affordable by capping fares at Rs 2500 per seat/ hour.
