Uber Expands Its UberEATS App

Uber announced on Wednesday that it’s delving further info into food delivery with its new UberEATS app, separating its food delivery from its ride-sharing service. The original UberEATS launched in Los Angeles last year, and has since moved into Toronto, New York City, Austin, Chicago, and Barcelona. It promised delivery in 10 minutes or less, but only operated during certain hours, which vary in the different locations, with a selection limited to just a couple of options. The UberEATS app, currently only available in Toronto, offers longer hours and a much wider selection. It will be available every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and customers can view full menus from over 100 restaurants. It will also offer an Instant Delivery menu during lunch hours for a quicker option that sh...

Ola joins global alliance to take on Uber

India’s largest cab aggregator Ola has joined international peers Didi Kuaidi, Lyft and GrabTaxi to form an alliance against San-Francisco-based Uber. The global alliance enables international travelers to avail cab-hailing services of the four companies through the same app they use in their home country. The partnership would provide ride-sharing coverage for India, China, Southeast Asia and the US, Ola said in a press statement. The arrangement is an extension of an ongoing pact between US-based Lyft and Chinese cab aggregator Didi Kuaidi. Didi Kuaidi had recently participated in a $500 million fund raising round at Ola. Ola, Didi Kuaidi, Lyft and GrabTaxi have collectively raised about $7 billion in external funding. The taxi-hailing business in India is heating up as...

How to do a perfect marketing? Learn from OLA!!

Tow days before when OLA was trending, I thought it might be a marketing gimmick …. Indeed it was!! Great job done by the Marketing team at OLA to seize this opportunity to showcase OlaBoat service as a "Goodwill" gesture and capture top of mind recall within their Customer Base. That’s what I would call a Masters stroke by a relatively new player in the Market flooded with many big brothers (MNC’s) who are often advised by bigger advertising Gurus. I remember the day last year almost same time when Ola’s biggest rival “UBER” was much criticized for employing “surge pricing” during the hostage crisis in Sydney last year. It was an unfortunate event which “UBER” tried to monetize unlike “OLA” who capitalized the opportunity for “Brand Building”.   Continuous rain for...

The latest plan is in line with the firm's ambition to make India its second biggest market after the US. It recently entered four new Indian cities, taking its tally to 22 cities. "It would be a natural progression for Uber in India given the importance it attaches to Indian market. The growth plans will get a further boost if it gets the nod from RBI for a semi-closed wallet ," a source close to the development said requesting anonymity .
