Qatar takes UAE to UN Court over Human Rights Violation

The government of Qatar has alleged UAE over human rights violation and now is taking it to the UN International Court of Justice (ICJ) as cited to the official Qatar News Agency (QNA). The move has come a year after Qatar accused of "terrorism" tied diplomatic and trade relations with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt. On the other hand, Doha has repeatedly rejected the allegations as "baseless". According to the government statement,"As set forth in detail in Qatar’s application to the International Court, the UAE led these actions, which have had a devastating effect on the human rights of Qataris and residents of Qatar." Saudi Arabia bans produce from Kerala fearing Nipah Virus Spread

Saudi Arabia has reportedly put a ban on processed and frozen fruit and vegetable imports from Kerala amidst severe concerns over the deadly Nipah Virus outbreak. The Nipah virus can result in a dangerous swelling of the brain called-encephalitis and its common symptoms can vary from a cough, headache, high fever, shortness of breath to confusion, reported the Gulf News on Monday. The virus resides naturally in fruit bats across South and Southeast Asia and can spread to humans through contact with the animals’ bodily fluids. The difficult part is that it has no vaccine and no cure. The virus is listed by the W.H.O. as a high priority for research. The Mohammed bin Rashid Innovation Fund in UAE will invest $27 million in 2018

CEO of Emirates Development Bank, Haitham Kamhiyah, stated, “The Mohammed bin Rashid Innovation Fund (MBRIF) plans to provide financial support aggregating AED 100 million (US $27.2 million) for the year 2018,” following MBRIF’s strategy meeting with associates from the Ministry of Finance and members of its Advisory Board. The MBRIF is an initiative sponsored by the state which was initially brought up and financed by the Ministry of Finance to bring financial support to local innovators in accessing affordable finance through the facility of a guarantee backed by the government. Dubai has teamed up with Microsoft to become the worlds first city to have a font named after the gleaming metropolis. Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum yesterday launched the Dubai Font in line with the UAEs vision to become a regional and global leader in innovation. The font, the first typeface developed by Microsoft for a city, comes in both Arabic and Latin script and will be available in 23 languages to 100 million Office 365 users around the world. Venture Capital Firm Next Orbit Ventures Received Commitment of $750 Million From UAE Investors

Venture capital firm Next Orbit Ventures (NOV) has received commitment from UAE-based investors, including DP World, Emmar and Etisalat, for its over USD 750 million or Rs 5,000 crore fund. The company plans to invest the proceeds of the over Rs 5,000 crore (USD 750 million) fund in digital, analog and solar fabrication (fabs) projects along with semiconductor design, electronics, led and solar products to feed those fabs, a statement said today. "The investors from UAE International Investors Council which includes 18 UAE entities like Mubadala, DP World, Etisalat, Emmar, among others have shown keen interest in investing in this fund and the project," company's founder and Managing Partner Ajay Jalan said.
