Online Travel Destination Platform Guiddoo Raises 2 Crore Funding

Guiddoo an in-destination platform that offers information on tours and activities, dining and shopping options to Indian travelers going abroad has raised USD 300,000 (about Rs 2 crore) from a clutch of investors. The company would utilise the funds to support product and technology development through its newly-opened technology and data unit based in Pune, according to a statement. Part of the funds would also be utilised towards building pan-India distribution for its tours, activities and holidays products. "Guiddoo has raised funding of USD 300,000 in Pre- Series A funding by existing investors Pawan Borle and Nirmal Singh as well as new investors including Manish Prasad, Vineet Varma, Nick Haulkoury, and Abhai S. Rao," the statement added.

MakeMyTrip to Raise $330 million From Ctrip and Naspers

Online travel firm MakeMyTrip today said it will raise $330 million (over Rs 2,115 crore) through share sale to investors as well as to Ctrip and Naspers’ arm MIH Internet, to fund expansion. The company has entered into share purchase agreements with undisclosed investors for placement of its ordinary shares, which is expected to generate gross proceeds of $165 million. The company will issue 4,583,334 ordinary shares in aggregate to investors at $36 per scrip. Moreover, it has also signed share purchase agreements with Nasdaq-listed Ctrip.com International Ltd and MIH Internet SEA Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Naspers Ltd for issuance of the company’s ordinary shares and Class B convertible ordinary shares respectively. Indian Online Travel Portal Yatra.com Listed on Nasdaq Today

Online travel firm Yatra Online Inc has been listed on the American stock exchange, Nasdaq, under the ticker symbol "YTRA" with effect from today. Yatra said it has completed the transaction with Terrapin 3 Acquisition Corporation (TRTL), which will result in TRTL becoming a partially owned subsidiary of Yatra. As a part of this process, Yatra has raised more than USD 92.5 million of primary capital from global investors, and the merged entity, 'Yatra Online Inc', will continue to be led by Yatra's management team, Yatra Online Inc said in a statement. China’s Ctrip invested $180 million in MakeMyTrip

India's leading online travel company, MakeMyTrip Limited (NASDAQ: MMYT),  announced an agreement under which Ctrip.com (NASDAQ: CTRP), a leading travel service provider of accommodation reservation, transportation ticketing, packaged tours and corporate travel management in China, has agreed to make an investment in MakeMyTrip. Upon completion of the transaction, Ctrip will invest US$180 million in MakeMyTrip through convertible bonds.
