Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) came up with some key announcements in its regulatory meeting on Tuesday that will allow users to use internet applications such as Skype and WhatsApp to make voice calls to landline. One-Stop Tariff Portal for Indian Consumers Launched

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has launched a beta version of a website that will allow comparison of mobile tariffs of all operators at one roof helping to bring transparency and ease. WhatsApp Earnings Leak: Sebi, Bourses Checking Listed Company Trade Details

Trai For 40% Carbon Emission Cut In Telecom Networks By 2023

Telecom regulator Trai today recommended 40 per cent carbon emission reduction in telecom network by 2022-23 with base year being 2011-12. The regulator has also suggested that the government should pass all the benefits granted under various schemes for using renewable energy technologies to telecom operators. "The target for reduction in carbon emission be set as 30 per cent by year 2019-20 taking base year as 2011-12 and 40 per cent by the year 2022-23. The targets should be reviewed in the year 2022-23," Trai said in its recommendation to the Department of Telecom on approach towards sustainable telecommunications. Telecom Regulator TRAI To Strengthen MySpeed, Mobile Data Measuring App

Telecom regulator Trai plans to strengthen its MySpeed app, which measures mobile data speeds, and will also make its evaluation method more transparent after consultation with operators, its chairman R S Sharma said. Some operators had complained about methods and results of the Trai's MySpeed app, and the regulator will soon come out with a white paper on underlying methodology and algorithms used by the said app for calculating data speeds of various service providers. Internet Based Applications To Contribute Rs 18 Trillions To GDP by 2020: Report

The recent study conducted by New Delhi-based International Council for Research in International Economic Relations (ICRIER) entitled ‘Estimating the Value of New Generation Internet based Application Services in India' has revealed that Internet-based applications holds a potential of contributing to around Rs 18 lakh crores to India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2020. Trai Launches MyCall App For Subscribers to Rate Call Quality

The telecom regulator Trai today launched a new app that would enable subscribers to rate the quality of a phone call. The new MyCall app, along with updated and enhanced versions of MySpeed app and Do Not Disturb app are amongst a slew of web initiatives unveiled by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) today. "As the mobile subscriber base increases, it is important that we continue to get feedback from the customers. Internet Company May Lose Permit if Service Not Started in 1 Year

Internet companies providing wireless service may lose their permit if they fail to start commercial service within a year of getting spectrum from the Department of Telecom, the regulator Trai said. "For ISP licensees having spectrum assigned from the DoT, a provision should be made in the licensee agreement...that licensee shall offer the commercial service to its subscribers on demand within 12 months from the date of spectrum assignment...failing which spectrum assigned to ISP licensee may be cancelled," Trai said. Now Measure Your Internet Speed By Official App Of TRAI

Telecom regulator Trai announced today the launch of a mobile application that will help the user to measure his/her internet speed on their smartphones and send results to the authority. "The MySpeed App, which could be downloaded from the mobile sewa app store, allows users to measure their data speed experience and send the results to this (Trai Analytics Portal)," the Telecom Regulatory Authority said in a statement.
