Delivery of Tesla Made-in-China Model 3 set for December 30

Tesla China told Pixr8 News that they are aiming to begin deliveries of the all-electric Model 3 sedan from December 30th. That’s far earlier than the company’s own estimates, and immensely earlier than what Tesla’s skeptics have suggested.  Monday’s event will deliver Tesla's 15 Model 3 car to local customers that are comprised of Tesla China employees. The first delivery date of the Made-in-China Model 3 marks the 357th day since Tesla and its construction partner started working on the Gigafactory 3 complex, which was then just a plot of land. The speed upon which Gigafactory 3’s Phase 1 zone was completed marks a new record for global automakers currently operating in China.  The Made-in-China Model 3 is Tesla’s key to the local Chinese auto industry, which also corre...

Tesla gets Approval to Start Manufacturing in China

SHANGHAI, 17th Oct 2019- China’s industry ministry said that the Tesla Inc was added to a government list of approved automotive manufacturers, as it granted the electric-vehicle maker a certificate it needs to start production in the country. The list was published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This means “the green light is fully given to Tesla for production in China,” said Yale Zhang, head of the Shanghai-based consultancy Automotive Foresight. Tesla can start production any time, he said Tesla did not immediately respond to an e-mailed request for comment. The $2 billion factory it is building in the eastern Chinese city of Shanghai is its first car manufacturing site overseas. Reuters reported earlier this month that Tesla plans to start produc...

Tesla Electric Car Explodes in Russia

A Tesla electric car caught fire on a Moscow motorway late on Saturday. Footage of the incident on state TV channel Rossia 24 showed the car by the side of the road engulfed in flames and thick black smoke. Two small explosions occurred within a few seconds of each other. It was not possible to tell which Tesla model the car was and only the metal frame remained after the fire. Tesla Inc stood by safety claims for its Model 3 earlier this week in the face of regulatory scrutiny, while documents showed the top U.S. automotive safety watchdog issued at least five subpoenas since last year seeking information about crashes involving the company's vehicles. The state-run RIA news agency website posted a video showing the car driving in the left-hand lane of Moscow's ring road, known ...

Tesla’s ‘Autopilot’ engaged in Florida fatal crash: Report

AFP- Tesla's "Autopilot" system was engaged by a driver who was killed in a March crash in Florida, according to an initial accident report released Thursday. Preliminary data showed the Tesla driver engaged "Autopilot" about 10 second before the crash and that the device was active at the time the vehicle was struck by a truck-tractor semitrailer, the National Transportation Safety Board said. The accident, the latest involving Autopilot, left the Tesla driver, a 50-year-old male dead and the combination vehicle driver uninjured. The report did not conclude who was at fault for the crash. Tesla's website describes Autopilot as an "advanced driver system" that enhances safety with external cameras, sensors and radar but demands a "fully attentive driver" at all times. The accid...

World's leading electric automobile maker Tesla said it was closing "many" of its 378 retail stores around the world as it shifts to an online-only sales model. The decision was surprised many of them including Tesla's Fan. The announcement came after another round of layoffs at the electric automaker like affected some 7% of its workforce in January in a bid to cut costs following its production ramp for the Model 3. Tesla did not respond to questions from Pixr8 News on how many stores will be closing. "Shifting all sales online, combined with other ongoing cost efficiencies, will enable us to lower all vehicle prices by about 6% on average, allowing us to achieve the $35,000 Model 3 price point earlier than we expected," the company said in a blog post. Tesla Names Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison to Board

Tesla has reportedly named Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison who is a shareholder and close friend of Chief Executive Elon Musk, to its board to provide the independent oversight demanded by U.S. regulators. The move is meant to usher Tesla past months of turbulence following Musk's Aug. 7 tweet that he was considering taking the company private and had secured funding. The fallout, which included the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission subsequently filing fraud charges against Musk for what it said were his "false and misleading" tweets, led some investors to call for stronger board oversight of Musk. The inclusion of Ellison puts one of the world's richest people with experience building a startup into a successful company on Tesla's board. ...

Robyn Denholm Appointed as Tesla Chairman After Elon Musk’s Resignation

Soon after Elon Musk announced his retirement from the post of Tesla’s chairman, the company has stated that board member Robyn Denholm will replace Elon Musk as the chairman. Musk, who has been on Tesla's board since 2014, tweeted in August he was considering taking the company private for $420 per share and had secured funding for a deal that was later scuttled but attracted scrutiny from several government agencies. As a result, Musk had to leave the position of the chairman. The appointment of Denholm caps months of turbulence for the company and its stock as investors called for stronger oversight of Musk, whose erratic public behavior raised concerns about his ability to steer the company through a rocky phase of growth. "Would like to thank Robyn for joining the team. Great r...
