Adani Green Energy to acquire SoftBank Energy India 5 GW Plant for USD 3.5 billion

AHMEDABAD, India, May 19, 2021-- Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) led by Gautam Adani has acquired 100% stakes in SB Energy India from Soft bank group (80%) and Bharti Group (20%). SB Energy India has a total renewable portfolio of 4,954 MW spread across four states in India. The transaction marks the largest acquisition in the renewable energy sector in India. The total deal valuation is approx USD 3.5 billion. The target portfolio consists large scale utility assets with 84% solar capacity (4,180 MW), 9% wind-solar hybrid capacity (450 MW) and 7% wind capacity (324 MW). The portfolio comprises of 1,400 MW operational solar power capacity and a further 3,554 MW is under construction. SoftBank Corp. To Invest Billions In Indian Solar Power Project

Japanese holding company, Softbank Group Corporation is determined to invest funds amounting to $60 billion to $100 billion in a solar power project in India. According to the reports, the funds being invested in the project are supposedly raised by the Softbank from the Saudi Arabia’s government. Saudi Arabia is the biggest investor in the Softbank’s Vision Fund, which was backed by an amount of $93 billion last year. Indian Space Agency ISRO Develops “Solar Calculator” Android App

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today said its Ahmedabad-based Space Applications Centre has developed an android app for computing the solar energy potential of a place. Developed at the behest of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the app is considered to be a "very useful" tool for installation of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels that is used for tapping solar energy, it said. The ISRO said the app provides monthly and yearly solar  potential and the minimum and the maximum temperatures at any location. It also displays the location of a place on the satellite image as well as the days length there during different periods in a year. Hero Future Energies Raises $125 Million From IFC

Renewable energy firm Hero Future Energies announced raising USD 125 million from International Finance Corp (IFC) for expanding its clean power generation capacities. IFC is picking up equity stake in the company at an investment of USD 125 million, Chairman and Managing Director of Hero Future Energies, the renewable energy arm of Hero Group, Rahul Munjal told reporters here. However, Munjal did not disclose the quantum of minority equity stake to be given to IFC. He said the investment will help the company expand its renewable energy capacity, provide jobs and facilitate private sector development in renewable energy. Japan’s SoftBank bags first solar power project in India

NEW DELHI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SB Energy, (formerly known as SBG Cleantech), a three-way joint venture between Japan-headquartered telecommunications and Internet major SoftBank Group Corp. (“SoftBank”), leading Indian business conglomerate Bharti Enterprises Limited (“Bharti”) and Taiwan-based top design and manufacturing services provider Foxconn Technology Group (“Foxconn”), won the NTPC bid to develop a 350MW solar plant under the Phase-II, Batch-II, Tranche-I of National Solar Mission at a 25-year tariff of Rs. 4.63/ kWh.
