Former Vice President of Baidu’s Suspected of Corruption

A former executive at China's internet search giant Baidu is being investigated for corruption, the company said. Ex-Baidu vice president Wei Fang is under suspicion of corruption following internal investigations, and his case has been handed over to public authorities, said the firm's professional ethics committee in a statement to AFP. Baidu vowed it would "resolutely crack down on all violations of law and discipline", but did not give further details of Wei's alleged wrongdoing. Just Dial Net Profit Jumps in Q3, Close to $9 million

Local search engine Justdial Monday reported two-fold rise in standalone net profit at Rs 57.34 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2018. The company had posted net profit of Rs 28.60 crore in the year-ago period. In a statement, the company said its "net profit stood at Rs 57.3 crore, up 100.5 percent Y-o-Y". The company's income increased to Rs 260.86 crore in the October-December period, over Rs 199.37 crore in the same quarter a year ago. France's data watchdog announced a fine of 50 million euros (USD 57 million) for US search giant Google, using the EU's strict General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the first time. China's internet regulator said on Saturday that search engines should tighten management of paid-for ads in search results, making clear which results are paid for and limiting their numbers.
