Google Launched Verified Calls Phone App

Search giant Google has announced Verified Calls feature for its Phone app. The company said in its blog post that Verified Calls aims to solve this problem by showing the caller’s name, logo, the reason for calling and a verification symbol indicating the business has been authenticated by Google. This is done in a secure way and Google doesn’t collect or store any personally identifiable information after verification. The reason to launch this phone app is a 2019 FTC report found that phone calls were the number one way people reported being contacted by scammers. Indian Police Bust $550 Million Internet Scam That Duped Thousands

Indian police have busted an internet scam in which around 650,000 people lost a combined 37 billion rupees ($549 million) after sending money to a company that promised they would earn cash by clicking on web links, police said on Friday. Police, who described the pyramid-style scheme as one of India's biggest ever, said they had arrested three ringleaders on the outskirts of New Delhi, the capital, and seized more than 5 billion rupees ($74 million) from bank accounts. Rs 2000 Cr Cisco Scam: BSNL to Look Into Allegations of Irregularity in Tender

State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today said it will look into allegations of irregularity in award of network equipment tender to US tech giant Cisco in 2014. Reports said BSNL tender norms for procuring IP-MPLS equipment for the Network for Spectrum (NFS) project were allegedly tweaked to so that the Rs 2,000 crore contract went to US giant. "Prima facie there is no substance to the allegations, but since the reports have come we will look into the matter once again. In the past also, these things have come up before I joined, and a proper reply on the subject has been given," BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava told.
