China’s Baidu Saw a Growth in Q2 Revenue with AI Boost

Baidu, the largest online search engine in China announced the reports of its total revenue and claimed that it hit 26.0 billion yuan ($3.93 billion), a rise of 32 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of this year. Around 77 percent of the total net revenues arrived from the mobile revenue which was 72 percent for the same period last year. "We had another strong quarter in Q2 with search exhibiting robust revenue growth driven by artificial intelligence-powered monetization capabilities and Baidu feed continuing strong traffic and monetization momentum," said Robin Li, chairman and CEO of Baidu. China’s Baidu To Launch Autonomous Bus Service Apolong

Chinese technology giant, Baidu announced on Wednesday that the company has started with the massive production of Apolong, China’s very first autonomous mini-buses and will be launched very soon. The bus will seat 14 people in total and will carry passengers from tourist areas, parks, industrial campuses, airports and other locations. The Apolong is a level four autonomous vehicle, which means that the vehicle can work in enclosed places safely without any human interaction. "2018 marks the first year of commercialisation for autonomous driving. China’s Baidu to sell majority of financial services unit for $1.9 bn

China's search engine major, Baidu Inc has raised more than $1.9 billion for its maiden spun off financial service division from TPG Capital Management LP and Carlyle Group LP as it seeks funding to take on established fintech firms in China. The deal has come in the wake of a scenario where China's government is tightening regulations on the loans market to rein in shadow banking and push banks to cut bad debt.
