Uber Ties Up With Bangalore Metro

Global taxi-hailing platform Uber said it has partnered with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) across 12 metro stations to provide last mile connectivity to everyday commuters. Consumers can avail the service through exclusive Uber booking counters at metro stations, Uber said in a statement. It said Uber representatives will also be available at these counters to ensure metro commuters get a reliable and affordable ride to their next destination. Operators of bike-taxis, which have over the past few months been emerging as viable, convenient and low-cost solutions for travel in the city, are now looking to attract more women riders to use the service. Uber temporarily shuts down auto services in India

Bengaluru: Ride-hailing service Uber Technologies Inc. has temporarily suspended offering autorickshaw rides on it platform, called uberAUTO, in Delhi, amid plans to revamp and expand the service to more Indian cities. “We are temporarily removing this product to solve specific problems that need to be resolved to help it scale,” a spokeswoman for Uber said in a statement on Wednesday. Uber didn’t give any details of the specific problems it faces or how it plans to expand the service. “At Uber, we continuously experiment with products to ensure that we can provide the most efficient, affordable and convenient ride to everyone everywhere,” the statement said.
