"The January 19th, 2018 event marks the inaugural India Digital Open Summit, a meeting of the top technologists, academia, startups, and industry leaders focused on how open source networking systems and platforms would transform and foster innovation and leadership across the entire digital ecosystem," the company said in a statement. India Lost 2 Crore Mobile Users in November

The number of telecom subscribers dwindled by 1.58 crore to 118.5 crore in November, even as Reliance Jio continued to lead in customer addition with over 15 crore subscribers, as per a report by Trai. "The number of telephone subscribers in India declined from 1,201.72 million at the end of October 2017 to 1,185.88 million at the end of November 2017, thereby showing a monthly decline rate of 1.32 per cent," the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India said in a monthly subscriber report today. The decline was mainly on account of closure of mobile services by some of the operators including Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications (RCom), which lost over 2.57 crore subscribers during the period. Reliance Sees Telecoms Arm Jio Turning Profitable ‘Shortly’

Reliance Industries Ltd’s telecoms arm Jio will turn profitable “shortly,” the Indian conglomerate said on Friday, while adding it would continue to pump around $1 billion into the venture for each of the next few quarters. Jio launched late last year with free voice and cut-price data, sparking a price war in India’s cut-throat telecoms sector which has driven down margins and forced consolidation. 80 Customised Phones with Reliance Jio SIM Cards Given to Top Indian Government Officials

New Delhi: At least 80 high-end Google Pixel “customised” phones with Reliance Jio SIMs have been given to top bureaucrats on a “trial” basis to ensure secure communication among them, according to a person in the IT ministry. The home ministry had drawn up a list of 100 officials from multiple ministries for the purpose, and 80 of these Google Pixel phones have been handed out so far, the person aware of the matter said. The rest 20 units are in the pipeline, he added. The project is at a ‘pilot’ stage and the sample distribution is for measuring the performance and security of the device. Reliance Jio has suspended the pre-booking of its much awaited "effectively free" 4G feature phone following overbooking of initial lot which is expected to be delivered in September. "Millions have pre-booked the JioPhone. We will inform you when pre-booking resumes," a message on Reliance Jio website said. A company official said pre-booking has been suspended after receiving overwhelming response.
