Bike Taxi Startup Rapido Acquires Hyderabad-based GetBike

Rapido, the Bangalore-based bike taxi startup, is in the final phase of finalizing an A&M deal with Hyderabad-based Vave Infosolutions India Pvt. Ltd, owner of motorcycle-sharing startup Getbike, according to a report from VCCircle. The deal will allow the bike taxi company, which is run by Roppen Transportation Services Pvt. Ltd, to enter the Hyderabad market by making use of GetBike’s resources and market presence. Shravya Reddy, who was previously associated with Reliance Communications Ltd and Apalya Technologies, founded Getbike – formerly called Getmi -- in September 2017. Bike Taxi App Raises Fresh Funding From Skycatcher, Others

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]yderabad based Bike taxi operator Rapido, run by Roppen Transportation Services Pvt Ltd has received a funding of Rs 2.14 crore (around $329K) in a fresh round of funding from US Based Skycatcher Fund and UK-based Thompson Taraz Managers, Aravind Sanka, co-founder at Rapido told a financial daily. The bike taxi startup will be utilizing its funds to expand its geographical presence in the country, and strengthen its team. Rapido had earlier raised a funding of $422K in a round led by US based Battery Road Digital Holdings LLC. With the second phase of odd-even scheme set to be rolled out from tomorrow, ride-sharing startups are lining up with free rides and scaling up operations to handle higher demand from consumers. The odd-even scheme was implemented on an experimental basis from January 1 to January 15 in view of high air pollution in the national capital. The second phase will commence on April 15. Operators of bike-taxis, which have over the past few months been emerging as viable, convenient and low-cost solutions for travel in the city, are now looking to attract more women riders to use the service. "We have around 400 mandatory steps that the driver needs to pass.
