PhonePe, a Flipkart-owned digital payments platform will now offer an IRCTC micro-app on its platform. The company has partnered with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to carry forward with this process. Railway Tickets Soon To Introduce T For ‘Transgenders’

Transgenders will now have the option of identifying themselves as the third gender with the Railway Board modifying reservation forms to provide the option T, besides M (Male) and F (Female). The Railway Board in a letter to all zonal railways has said that ticket booking and cancellation forms will be modified from the current option of Transgender (Male/Female) to just T. IRCTC Offers mVisa Payment Solution For Travellers

Rail travellers can now book tickets by mVisa payment method which allows them to scan a quick response (QR) code and pay through smartphones. Users can securely link their visa debit, credit or prepaid account to the mVisa application on their smartphones and make their travel bookings by simply scanning their mVisa QR code on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation website. Indian Railway Acquiring Technology To Run Trains Without Guards

The Indian Railways will float global tenders worth over Rs 100 crore for acquiring sophisticated equipment to run 1000 trains without guards. The End of Train Telemetry (EoTT) equipment is used to establish communication between the locomotive driver and the last wagon of the train to ensure that the train is running with all coaches/wagons as a complete unit. The equipment is designed to do the guards job by giving indication to the loco driver in case of parting of coaches or wagons from the rear side of the train. Each set of EoTT device is estimated to cost approximately Rs 10 lakh. Now You Can Book Tatkal Ticket Using Mobikwik Wallet

Mobile payments network MobiKwik has partnered Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to launch e-cash payments for tatkal bookings. "MobiKwik collaborated with Indian Railways to digitise payments on the IRCTC app and IRCTC FoodOnTrack app this year, and now we are powering payments for tatkal online that will help users book tickets almost instantly," MobiKwik Co-founder Upasana Taku said in a statement today. MobiKwik said instantaneous e-cash payments will help tatkal online in managing the load of over a thousand ticket bookings per minute. A signalling system upgrade on congested routes has helped the Indian Railways to reduce the travel time of 14 premier trains, including the Rajdhani Expresses from the national capital to Howrah and the Patna and Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi. A total of 350 Mails/Expresses and 74 Superfast trains, including Rajdhanis and Shatabdis, are now reaching destinations 5-25 minutes before time because of removal of bottlenecks and rationalisation of timetable, said a senior railway ministry official. Gatimaan Express will run between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Agra Cantonment stations. Gatimaan Express becomes India's fastest train touched top speed of 160 kmph beating India’s fastest train so far the Bhopal Shatabdi running at 150 kmph.
