AskMe Grocery Targets Rs 1,800 cr GMV By March

Confident of the success of online sale of groceries, AskMe Grocery has said it expects the value of merchandise sold through its platform to touch Rs 1,800 crore by March next year. The growth is expected to come on the back of addition of new partners and expansion of its fresh food category, AskMe Grocery Co-founder Ankit Jain told PTI. "Grocery online has a lot of potential when the business is at a scale. We have been doing well and our average cart size is about Rs 1,900 and we are already processing 20,000 orders daily. The hyperlocal delivery model has really helped us," Jain said. He further said the company works with kirana store owners to offer convenience, comparison and more deals for the consumers. Peppertap Shuts Down Grocery Delivery Operations

PepperTap, a Hyperlocal delivery startup founded in 2013 by Navneet Singh and Milind Sharma shuts down its grocery delivery operations. Peppertap will focus on building a logistics company to compete with startups including Delhivery, Flipkart's ekart division and go Javas head on, multiple sources told Pixr8. In March, Bengaluru-based grocery portal BigBasket raised $150 million (about Rs 1,000 crore) in funding led by Dubai's Abraaj Group to strengthening its express delivery service and expand its reach. Nuvo Logistics, Which Also Runs Online Grocer PepperTap, Posted Profit In FY15

Nuvo Logistics Pvt. Ltd, which also runs online grocer PepperTap, posted a profit in 2014-15 on higher demand for its business of handling product returns, official data showed. The Reverse logistics firm posted a profit of Rs.87 lakh on revenue of Rs.19.5 crore, according to documents filed with the Registrar of Companies. In August 2013, Nuvo logistics had posted a revenue of Rs.61 lakh for the eight-month period ending March 2014 at a loss of Rs.41 lakh. Nuvo Logistics was launched to test the waters in logistics before entering the business-to-consumer (B2C) space. It fulfils almost 10,000-12,000 orders a day and operates across 30 cities in India. PepperTap Acquires Jiffstore, Also Raises Series B funding

Peppertap, Gurgaon based hyperlocal service startup has taken over Bangalore based hyperlocal grocery delivery startup, Jiffstore for an undisclosed amount. Jiffstore’s team will join PepperTap’s Gurgaon and Bengaluru offices. Peppertap aims to use synergies with Jiffstore to build an excellent customer experience. PepperTap also closed its Series B round of funding; with an additional $4 millon from Innoven Capital, in addition to the $36 million raised recently from SnapDeal, Sequoia India, SAIF Partners, Ru-Net, Beenext & JAFCO Asia.
