Now, This Indian State to Impose Tax on E-commerce Shipments

Himachal Pradesh has become the latest state to impose tax on e-commerce shipments with the state Assembly today passing a bill providing for levying tax on all online purchases to check revenue loss caused by online trading. Major states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have already announced imposing tax on online purchases to protect local traders. The HP Assembly passed the Himachal Pradesh Tax on Entry of Goods (Amendment) Bill 2016, that provides for levying tax on all online purchases to check revenue losses caused by online trading. Ola Started e-rickshaw Bookings on its Platform, Partner with Freecharge

Transportation app Ola today launched e-rickshaw category on its platform that will enable the users to book rides on the electric vehicle in Delhi-NCR region. "A total of 5,100 Ola e-rickshaws will be launched in partnership with Bhartiya Micro Credit (BMC) at the event and will be deployed across Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad. This will be further scaled up in the coming months to more small towns and Tier III cities," Ola Chief Operating Officer Pranay Jivrajka told reporters here. The company will charge a 10 per cent commission from the rickshaw pedallers. It will, however, not charge any convenience fee from users as is the case with auto-rickshaws. Alibaba Revenue Jump 32 Percent in Q4

AFP- Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba revenue jump 32 percent year-on-year for the quarter ending in December, it said in a statement Thursday, despite slowing growth in the world's second-largest economy. Alibaba, which dominates the consumer-to-consumer market in China, said revenue reached $5.33 billion (CNY 34.54 billion or roughly Rs. 36,155 crores) in the December quarter, beating an average forecast of CNY 33.2 billion in a survey of analysts by Bloomberg News. Beijing, Jan 9 (PTI) - China's country code domain '.cn' has become the world's most commonly used in the internet with 16.36 million users, surpassing Germany's '.de' domain. According to the data released yesterday by the China Internet Network Information Centre (CNNIC), which manages the domain, '.cn' had 16.36 million users by the end of 2015. The '.cn' domain is also world leading in domain resolution service, security and the ratio of benign uses, said CNNIC head Li Xiaodong. As China began to require real-name registration in 2009, the '.cn' domain is able to protect users' interests and reduce online theft, phishing and fraud, Li said.
