Railyatri Operations are Unauthorised: Delhi HC

The Delhi High Court today dismissed the writ petitions filed by Stelling Technologies, which owns and manages the online train ticket booking portal 'railyatri.in' providing service related to rail journeys. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation(IRCTC) had cracked whip on the Retail Service Providers(RSP) who were associated with RailYatri by deactivating their access credentials to the IRCTC site. According to the IRCTC, the services by RailYatri were unauthorized, and the RSPs, by associating with it, had violated their contractual terms with IRCTC. The IRCTC said that it is the only entity authorized by the Ministry of Railways to supply e-tickets, and that RSPs are delegated agents of the IRCTC, who cannot enter into further transactions with third-party enti...

MakeMyTrip to Raise $330 million From Ctrip and Naspers

Online travel firm MakeMyTrip today said it will raise $330 million (over Rs 2,115 crore) through share sale to investors as well as to Ctrip and Naspers’ arm MIH Internet, to fund expansion. The company has entered into share purchase agreements with undisclosed investors for placement of its ordinary shares, which is expected to generate gross proceeds of $165 million. The company will issue 4,583,334 ordinary shares in aggregate to investors at $36 per scrip. Moreover, it has also signed share purchase agreements with Nasdaq-listed Ctrip.com International Ltd and MIH Internet SEA Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Naspers Ltd for issuance of the company’s ordinary shares and Class B convertible ordinary shares respectively. Entertainment ticketing platform BookMyShow today said it has bought 75 per cent stake in Pune-based Townscript for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 2014 by Sachin Sharma and Sanchit Malik, Townscript is a DIY (do it yourself) event registration and ticketing platform that allows users to set up events like workshops, conferences and exhibitions. Its platform has already facilitated 12,000 such events across major cities as well as smaller cities like Ludhiana and Jaipur.
