Big Economy Boost- Indian PM Flags Off First Flight Under UDAN Scheme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the maiden Shimla-New Delhi flight under a government scheme called UDAN or "Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik" to boost regional air connectivity. The flight is being operated by Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India. The airline has deployed its 42-seater ATR plane on this sector. Modi, who has put out 101 posts till date, is also the most "effective world leader" on the platform, a conclusion that was reached based on the comments and likes that his posts garner. Reliance Jio, Paytm Apologise For Using PM’s Photo in Print Ads

Reliance Jio and Paytm have apologised for their "inadvertent mistake" in using Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photograph in their advertisements without permission, the government today informed Parliament. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs had sent notices to both the companies under the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act of 1950, which bars use of Prime Minister's name and picture for commercial use. Indian Government Made No Provision to Allocate Funds to Startups Under Startup India Initiative

The government has made no provision for its ambitious India Aspiration Fund, part of StartUp India initiative, for the next financial year and has reduced the allocation to Rs 100 crore from Rs 600 crore made earlier for the current fiscal. In order to provide support to startups through Fund of Fund operations, IAF, with a corpus of Rs 2,000 crore, was launched by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in August 2015 to enhance the equity availability to MSMEs. LIC was also made partner and co-investor in the India Aspiration Fund managed by SIDBI. As per the Budget 2017-18 document, the government had made allocation of Rs 500 crore for 2015-16 when the fund was launched. "The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved 'Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan' (PMGDISHA) to make 6 crore rural households digitally literate. Facebook Gets Over 6,000 Data Requests From India

Social networking giant Facebook received 6,324 requests from Indian government agencies for 8,290 users/accounts in the first half of 2016. This is the second highest after the US, which made 23,854 requests for 38,951 users/accounts during January-June 2016, according to Facebook's Government Requests Report. Requests from India have increased, a trend seen globally as well from the previous period. Indian agencies had made 5,561 requests for 7,018 users/accounts in July-December 2015 period. Facebook said it was able to produce "some data" in 53.59 per cent of the cases in the first half of 2016, compared to just over 50 per cent in the July-December 2015 period.
