Indus OS Raises Funds From JSW Ventures, VenturEast

Indus OS, a startup which has created a regional operating system, today said it has raised an undisclosed amount from new investors JSW Ventures and VenturEast in recently-concluded financing round. Omidyar Network, an existing investor, has also participated in the latest round. "The amount which has been raised will be used for product development and hiring new talent," Indus OS CEO & co-founder Rakesh Deshmukh told.

Google Vs Oracle: Oracle Revealed Google's Android Revenue Secret

Google's Android operating system has generated revenue of about $31 billion and profit of $22 billion since its release, an Oracle Corp lawyer told a U.S. court hearing the software company's copyright lawsuit against Google. A lawyer for Google did not discuss the figure, according to a transcript of the hearing in a Northern California federal court last week. But he said the Alphabet Inc unit might be willing to disclose more information about the revenue produced by Android as part of the court proceedings. The Android mobile operating system began with the release of the Android alpha in November 2007. The first commercial version, Android 1.0, was released in September 2008.
