Ola Ties Up With Microsoft For Connected Car Platform

Indian ride-hailing firm Ola said it has tied up with Microsoft to build a connected-car platform and will use the U.S tech giant’s Azure cloud-computing service to power its in-car entertainment offering. Microsoft is separately also in talks over a potential investment in Ola, a source told Reuters, declining to be named as the discussions are private. Microsoft Corp’s secret internal database for tracking bugs in its own software was broken into by a highly sophisticated hacking group more than four years ago, according to five former employees, in only the second known breach of such a corporate database. The company did not disclose the extent of the attack to the public or its customers after its discovery in 2013, but the five former employees described it to Reuters in separate interviews. ANI Technologies, Ola Parent May See Some Investment From Microsoft

American Multinational giant Microsoft may invest some money for a small stake in ANI Technologies Pvt Ltd, the company that runs Ola, in a deal where this ride hailing service will switch from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to Microsoft's Azure Cloud Platform. “The talks with Ola are in very early stages. More than the money, it is more about Nadella’s vision of partnering with more and more large technology companies in India and establish Azure as service of preference. Microsoft is likely to invest in Ola but a term sheet is yet to be issued,” one of the two persons cited above said on condition of anonymity.
