China’s ZTE Main Business Operations Cease after USA Ban

Chinese Multinational Agglomerate, ZTE was hit by a ban from Washington, forbidding U.S firms from supplying it with components and technology allegations of violating against U.S export restrictions by illegally shipping goods to Iran. The U.S ban which threatens to cut ZTE supply chain came amidst the heightened tensions over a possible China-U.S Trade War. The Chinese government too had raised the issue of the ban while visiting U.S trade delegation. One97 Communication Which Runs Paytm Raises 400 Crore From Mediatek, Valuation Upto $5 Billion

Taiwanese chip designer MediaTekis investing USD 60 million (about Rs 400 crore) in One97 Communications, which runs Paytm. The transaction values the digital payment services and e-commerce firm at about USD 5 billion. When contacted, a Paytm spokesperson confirmed the development. The funds will be used for expanding payments and commerce businesses and for building and launching the payments bank, she added. Mobikwik Raised USD 50 Million (Rs 330 crore) in Funding

Mobile wallet company Mobikwik today said it has raised USD 50 million (about Rs 330 crore) in funding, led by Japanese payments firm Gateway and Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek. Its existing investors such as Sequoia Capital and Treeline Asia also participated in the current round of funding. The company said it will use the proceeds for product innovations, team building, and user growth. "Despite the current business climate when funding has become challenging, unit economics, sustainable growth and a sound business model are what investors are focusing their attention on.
