Yahoo’s New Parent Oath And Mozilla Sue Each Other After Firefox Switched From Yahoo To Google

The legal battle between Mozilla and Oath, new parent company of Yahoo has heating up. Now it looks like Mozilla will be heading to court to kick back Yahoo Holdings and Oath over the alleged breach of contract. Yahoo’s new parent Oath filed a complaint against Mozilla in a California court on December 1, alleging a breach of contract. Now Mozilla has filed a counter complaint, with the Superior Court stating that the switch back was in line with a deal struck between the two companies. This switch is not as small as it appears. With Firefox Quantum's release, Mozilla had set aside its deal with Yahoo that it made in 2014, to make it the default search engine provider for users in US, with others as options. The deal was made at $375 million a year. Details of the deal were only...

Yahoo disclosed in October that a 2013 data breach affected all 3 billion of its accounts, compared with an estimate of more than 1 billion disclosed in December. The Senate Commerce Committee said Mayer, interim Equifax CEO Paulino do Rego Barros Jr. and former Equifax CEO Richard Smith would testify, as well as Karen Zacharia, Verizon’s deputy general counsel and chief privacy officer. Yahoo Shutting Down Yahoo Messenger

American multinational technology company Yahoo Inc. has announced the shutting down of its chat service Yahoo Messenger from August 5 this year. However, the company has asked all its users to move to the new version of the Messenger, introduced last year. "In December of 2015, we announced a brand new Yahoo Messenger for mobile, the Web and in Yahoo Mail on the desktop, built on a new modern platform. This complete revamp brings users an incredibly fast, beautiful and smart way to send - and unsend - messages, photos and animated GIFs in 1:1 and group conversations," Yahoo chief architect Amotz Maimon said while explaining the company's move.   "While today we provide basic interoperation between the legacy product and the new Messenger, we encourage all of our users to comple...

Yahoo Inc Officially Launched The Sale of Its Core Business

Yahoo Inc officially launched the sale of its core business on Friday, a move seen as a positive step for frustrated investors but not enough to keep an activist hedge fund from pursuing a proxy fight against the struggling Internet company. Yahoo shares jumped after the company announced its board has formed a committee of independent directors to explore strategic alternatives, and that it has hired investment banks and a law firm to run the process. The launch of the auction process, a move activist hedge fund Starboard Value and other shareholders have pushed since late last year, showed the company was moving another step closer to selling its core business, which includes search, mail and news sites, rather than spin it off as previously planned. The move follows more than t...
