Indian Government Approved a Start-up Incubation Centre for Mangaluru

The Indian government has approved a start-up incubation centre for Mangaluru to provide basic facilities for people intending to set up self-employment units, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said. The Centre would start functioning within four months with an investment of Rs 1.18 crore, she said. Facilities would be provided to 60 start-up companies at the centre in the initial phase, the Minister of state for for Commerce and Industry said after inspecting the site identified for the centre here last evening. The start-up companies could function here for a specified term and required facilities would be provided in the second floor of the corporation sub office. Flipkart Announces Hackathon to Deal With Bengaluru Traffic Problem

E-commerce major Flipkart today announced a hackathon to crowdsource "innovative", "implementable" solutions from the tech community and concerned citizens, that could help ease the cities perennial  traffic problem. Termed "Gridlock Hackathon," the initiative marks the start of the "Month of Innovation" at Flipkart, a part of its  10th year anniversary celebrations, the company said. The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) Launches Business Incubator LIVE

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) has launched its Laboratory for Innovation, Venturing and Entrepreneurship (LIVE), a business incubator and entrepreneurship development center. A proposal for LIVE was submitted by the institute in 2016, following which the Department of Science and Technology (DST) sanctioned a grant of Rs three crores. Hero Group Chairman Sunil Munjal Invests Rs 100 Crore in Aavishkaar Bharat Fund

Hero Enterprises Chairman Sunil Kant Munjal today committed an investment of Rs 100 crore in a new fund of social venture capital firm Aavishkaar -- Aavishkaar Bharat Fund. The fund is sixth by Aavishkaar and a Sebi-registered category II alternative investment fund (AIF). "At this stage in India's evolution, it is clear that for the entire country to develop, rural areas and underprivileged citizens must become part of the economic miracle, not through charity, but through real opportunities," Munjal said in a statement. 20000 Crore Alloted For R&D at IITs, IIMs and Other Higher Education

In a bid to boost innovation at premier institutions, an agency will soon be set by the government to provide funds up to Rs 20,000 crore for building research-oriented infrastructure at IITs, IIMs and other centres of higher education. The HRD Ministrys proposal to this effect was cleared at a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Announcing the decision, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said a Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) would be jointly promoted by an identified promoter and his ministry with an authorised capital of Rs 2,000 crore of which government equity would be Rs 1,000 crore. Today, businesses work in a very fragile and unstable environment. Consumers’ preferences and expectations are continuously evolving. Some corporate leaders often argue that it is lack of new ideas that hinder successful tapping of the marketing needs.
