UAE-Based Indian Firms To Invest USD 3.6 Billion In UP

DUBAI: Five leading Indian-owned businesses in the UAE will invest over USD 3.68 billion in infrastructure and industrial development initiatives in Uttar Pradesh after an MoU was signed in this regard during an investment forum held in Dubai. The move comes after UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had launched an ambitious programme to boost all-round development of the state by attracting NRI investments from across the globe, especially from the Middle East. The UAE-based Indian companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the state government which was represented by a high-level delegation of officials who visited the UAE on Thursday. Railways Denied Reports of Data Leak From IRCTC Website

Railways today dismissed reports about the leak of email and mobile numbers from user profile data of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporations (IRCTC) e-ticketing system and said everything is safe and secure. There is no hacking nor any leakage of IRCTC ticketing website and everything is safe, Railway Board Member (Traffic) Mohd Jamshed told PTI. IRCTC Website Hacked, Transaction Data Were Compromised

Maharashtra Police has informed the Indian Railways about the suspected hacking and theft of data from the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website. The IRCTC is India's biggest travel e-commerce website, where lakh of transactions are conducted every day. The website has lots of sensitive information such as the PAN card numbers of the customers, their safety and security questions and other such personal information. India to cross 500 million Internet users this year: Ravi Shankar Prasad

The number of Internet users in the country is likely to reach 500 million this year, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said today. "India has grown to around 400 million Internet users. If we take Trai numbers then it is somewhere close to 332 million. As per service providers, they were telling me that up to date it is 402 million. We were to have 500 million users by 2017, I feel it will happen this year itself," Prasad said while launching Digital Desh Drive 2. India has now over 100 crore mobile subscribers, he added. Uttar Pradesh Rolls Out Major Incentives to Boost Startups

In a bid to boost startups, particularly in the information technology sector, the Uttar Pradesh government has waived off the stamp duty on land purchased for building offices or built-up offices, an official said on Friday. This has been done under the IT and StartUp Policy-2016 rolled out by the Akhilesh Yadav government. However, the government has put a rider that these units getting exemptions must commence their operations within the next three years. Similarly, the electricity duty for these units has been waived off for almost five years. It has also been decided to provide grants to these units to contribute to the employees' provident fund.
