App Store Generated 93% More Revenue Than Google Play in Q3

There has always been a competition between Android and iOS and with this, the fight between the App Store and the Google Play Store also emerged. In the third quarter of 2018, that gap between the two widened considerably. In this quarter, the App Store earned nearly 93% more than Google Play, the largest gap since at least 2014. The company says that approximately 66% of the $18.2 billion in mobile app revenue generated in Q3 2018 came from Apple’s  App Store. The App Store made $12 billion in the quarter, up 23.3% from the $9.7 billion it made during the same period in the previous year. Google launches Indie Accelerator Programme for Asian Startups

Google has announced a new four-month training programme for gaming startups and developers in Asia as a special edition of Google Launchpad Accelerator. Dubbed as "Indie Games Accelerator Programme", Google is targetting gaming start-ups based in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand or Vietnam who will have an opportunity to work with mentors from Google and the gaming industry.   Anuj Gulati, Developer Marketing Manager, Google Play, stated in a blog post, We're always looking for new ways to support developers. YouTube To Launch Music Subscription Service Next Year: Bloomberg

Alphabet Inc’s YouTube plans to introduce a paid music streaming service in March, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter. Record label Warner Music Group has already signed on while Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and Merlin, a consortium of independent labels, are in talks with the video streaming website, Bloomberg said. The service, internally referred to as Remix according to Bloomberg, will compete with similar offerings from Spotify and Apple Inc. Google, another Alphabet unit, introduced Google Play Music, a streaming service, in 2011.
