Google Maps launches ‘Stay Safer’ feature in India

Google Maps has introduced an India-first 'Stay Safer' feature for users that will alert and notify users traveling in taxis and auto-rickshaws when their vehicle goes off-route. The feature will also allow users to share the live status of their trips with family and friends, Google said in a statement. Indian users will be able to use the new feature on their Android phones with the latest version of Google Maps, it added. "Through our extensive research across India, we found that a lot of people limit their mobility due to safety-related concerns. Google Maps to Show Nearby Lime Bikes and Scooters in 13 Locations

The technology giant Google has partnered with scooter hiring company Lime to show nearby bikes and scooters in 13 cities worldwide. If there’s a Lime vehicle available nearby, Google Maps will show you how long it will take to get to the vehicle, the estimated price of the ride and total journey time. Similar to the Uber integration in Google Maps, tapping on Lime will open the Lime app. If you don’t have it installed, you’ll be directed to the Apple App or Google Play store. Competition Commission of India Imposes Rs 136 Crore Fine on Search Giant Google

Competition Commission, the statutory body of India, has imposed a fine of Rs 136 crore (around $ 21.1 million) after finding it guilty of abusing its dominant position in India.
