Ford Ties Up with Baidu to Test Driverless Vehicle in China

The popular US-based automaker Ford has tied up with China’s largest search engine Baidu for a two-year autonomous vehicle test project in China. The president and CEO of Ford Autonomous Vehicles named Sherif Marakby announced the partnership with Baidu's vice president and general manager of its Intelligent Driving Group Li Zhenyu on Wednesday in Beijing. Following the deal, the two companies will further advance the development and on-road testing of autonomous vehicles in China, the world's biggest auto market. Ford Expands Self-driving Vehicle Program to Washington, D.C.

The automobile major Ford is reportedly coming up with its autonomous vehicles in Washington, D.C. which would become the fourth city to join the automaker’s testing program. The company is preparing to roll out a self-driving taxi and delivery service in 2021. It will start testing its self-driving vehicles in the district in the first quarter of 2019 which it is already testing in Detroit, Pittsburgh and Miami. Google, Ford, Uber launch coalition to further self-driving cars

Alphabet Inc's Google unit, Ford Motor Co, the ride-sharing service Uber and two other companies said on Tuesday they are forming a coalition to push for federal action to help speed self-driving cars to market. Sweden-based Volvo Cars, which is owned by China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co GEELY.UL, and Uber rival Lyft also are part of the Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets.
