Food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy today said it has expanded its services to Chandigarh and has tied up with over 250 restaurants in the city. The startup, which has gained a substantial market share and was last valued at USD 400 million when Naspers led a USD 80-million investment in May, said it will soon expand to neighbouring cities Mohali, Panchkula and Zirakpur. Drums Food International, the parent company of Epigamia Greek yogurt, today said it has raised Rs 90 crore in a series-B round of funding. The round was led by Belgium-based consumer focused private equity group Verlinvest and venture capital firm DSG Consumer Partners, with participation from InnoVen Capital, it said in a statement. Jumbotail, an online marketplace for food and grocery, today said it has raised USD 8.5 million (over Rs 55 crore) from Kalaari Capital and existing investor, Nexus Venture Partners. The company plans to utilise the funds for strengthening its technology platform and enhancing operational capabilities, Jumbotail said in a statement. Online restaurant guide and food ordering app Zomato today said about 17 million user records have been stolen from its database. The stolen information contains user email addresses and hashed passwords but no payment information or credit card data has been stolen/leaked, Zomato said in a blogpost on its website. The startups disclosure comes at a time when the world is grappling with the cyber attack by ransomware WannaCry, which has impacted IT networks in over 150 countries. BigBasket to Invest Rs 50 Cr in B2B Food Services Business

Online grocery store BigBasket today said it plans to invest Rs 50 crore over the next 12 months to scale up revenues coming from hotels and restaurants segment. The company, which started supplying grocery to hotels, restaurants and caterers (HoReCa) segment from June last year, aims to clock a revenue run rate of Rs 500 crore from the segment by March 2018. Revenue run rate is a term used in online retailing to indicate total value of merchandise sold over a time-frame to predict future performance. Facebook Inc said users in the United States would be able to order food through the Facebook pages of restaurants starting on Wednesday as part of its efforts to connect users and businesses. Users will also be able to get quotes from businesses, buy movie tickets and book appointments at spas and salons, Facebook said in a blog post. Earlier this month, Facebook launched "Marketplace", a platform that allows people to buy and sell items locally.
