After Raising 25 Crore, Bengaluru Based Eatfresh Shuts Down its Food Delivery Operation

Bengaluru-based EatFresh, a food-tech startup operated by Chennai-based Ubiquitous Foods Pvt Ltd that also runs the bakery chain Ovenfresh, has shut down its retail food delivery services. Food delivery start-up Box8 today said it has raised Rs 50 crore in funding from IIFL Seed Ventures Fund & Mayfield. Box8 is a full stack online food delivery player that specializes in preparing and delivering Indian food. Its diverse menu consists of over 100 dishes in all-in-1 Indian meals, biryanis, wraps, sandwiches and salads. Bangalore Based Food Startup Swiggy Raised Rs 47 crore

Online food ordering startup Swiggy has raised Rs 47 crore from existing investors Norwest Venture Partners, DST Global and Accel Partners. The value of Swiggy is now over Rs 865 crore or $130 million. Over the past few months, the company has also seen its order value basket size increased to Rs 375 per order. Close to 30% of these orders are cashless. Swiggy is also fulfilling close to 40,000 orders from the eight cities that it operates in including Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi-NCR. Deal: Roadrunnr and TinyOwl in Early Stage of All-Stock Deal

As per the report in ET, Roadrunnr (Logistics player) and Tinyowl(online food ordering platform) are in early stages talks to merge in an all-stock deal. Venture funds including Sequoia Capital and Nexus Venture Partners invested in both the startups. At present, both companies have cash to sustain operations for at least 10 months. The talks under way for a few months now, are still at a preliminary stage the sources said. If talks prove successful, the combined entity could explore several options including launching food ordering and delivery services and may also expand to categories beyond food like the launch of bike taxis, the sources said. It had broken even in key markets including India and is on track to make a profit as early as June next year.
