Now Infosys Will Lay Off Around 100+ Employees

Infosys could hand out pink slips to hundreds of mid and senior-level employees as it carries out bi-annual performance review amid a challenging business environment. The development comes at a time when its peers Wipro and Cognizant are taking similar measures to control costs. Interestingly, Infosys has said it will hire 10,000 Americans in the next two years and open four centres in the US as it seeks to counter moves by the US to tighten visa norms. "Our performance management process provides for a bi- annual assessment of performance... A continued low feedback on performance could lead to certain performance actions, including separation of an individual and this is done only after feedback," Infosys spokesperson said in an emailed statement. According to sources, the pay revision will be effective from April 1 and will see salaries of employees at the mid and junior-level go up by an average 12-15 percent. For senior management, the hike will be 9-12 percent, but the company may offer 20-25 percent raise to exceptional performers, they added. In line with the company’s policy, it provides employees with two months pay, employment and outplacement services to help them find their next great opportunity, the statement added. Most of the job cuts will be in the United States, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter. The layoffs will be mainly in supply chain, marketing and general and administrative divisions, Bloomberg said, adding that the combined company has 140,000 employees. "As is common with deals of this size, there will be some overlaps we will need to manage and where some employee reduction will occur," Dell spokesman Dave Farmer said. He, however, declined to comment specifically on the report. Dell, which was taken private by founder Michael Dell along with private equity firm Silver Lake Management in 2013, agre...
