Andhra Pradesh Tops in Ease of Doing Business, Delhi Fails

Andhra Pradesh is on the lead in the Indian government’s ‘ease of doing business’ index for the states. Andhra Pradesh scored 98.42 percent in the third edition of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion’s (DIPP’s) Business Reforms Action Plan, beating Telangana. The state has improved in various fields such as taxes, protecting minority investors, issuing construction permits, providing new electricity connections, among others that helped a lot to reach this position. India is expected to remain one of the fastest growing emerging markets with real GDP growth averaging 6.5 per cent over the next five fiscals, though bureaucratic inefficiencies will continue to cap the countrys growth potential, says a report. Indian Employers Can File One Paper For EPF, ESI returns

Taking another step towards ease of doing business, the Centre will on Thursday launch a common registration facility on e-biz portal enabling employers to avoid filing separate Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees' State Insurance (ESI) returns. The Labour Ministry has decided to integrate the registration process under five Labour Acts with the e-biz portal of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP). The five acts covered in this process include Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948, Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act, 1970 and Building and Other Construction workers (Regulation of Employment & Conditions of Service) Act, 1996.
