Stand Up India Scheme Allocates Rs.500 Crore For SC ST and Women

New Delhi, Feb.29: Sharing his nine pillars for what he called a transformational budget for fiscal 2016-17, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday announced that under the Stand-Up India scheme, a sum of Rs.500 crores has been allocated to people belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC and ST) and women entrepreneurs. The Startup India campaign is based on an action plan aimed at promoting bank financing for start-up ventures to boost entrepreneurship and encourage start-ups with jobs creation. The campaign was first announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this year's August 15 Independence Day address to the nation. ‘Make in India Week’ gets Rs 15.2 lakh crore investment commitments

MUMBAI: The week-long Make in India event here has secured investment commitments worth Rs 15.2 lakh crore, with host state Maharashtra alone accounting for Rs 8 lakh crore. Besides, it received investment enquiries worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore. "The multi-sectoral Make in India Week has been a great success. We've managed to get investment commitments to the tune of over Rs 15.2 lakh crore from the event," DIPP Secretary Amitabh Kant told reporters at the closing press meet at the MMRDA Grounds here today. DIPP secretary Amitabh Kant to take over as Niti Aayog CEO

Amitabh Kant, secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, was on Thursday appointed as the chief executive officer of Niti Aayog. He will take over the new job after his retirement, next month-end. The competent authority has approved the appointment of Kant, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre, as CEO of Niti Aayog, after his superannuation in February-end, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said. “The terms and conditions of his appointment as CEO, Niti Aayog will be conveyed in due course,” it said. 59-year-old Kant has been appointed in place of former IAS officer Sindhushree Khullar, who was appointed as the first CEO of the National Institution for Transforming India (Niti) Aayog, a body that has replaced Planning Commission, ...
